Stems, or stem extensions, connect the handlebars to the bike frame and have a significant impact on riding position and handling. The stem’s length, angle and rise determine how far forward and how high the rider leans. The right stem improves a bike’s handling, ergonomics and power transfer, especially on mountain, gravel and electric bikes.
Stems are available in aluminum and carbon fiber, in different lengths and angles, and are compatible with handlebar diameters of 31.8 mm and 35 mm. Shorter stems offer more precise control on technical sections, while longer stems support a more stable riding position on long routes. High-quality stems ensure a secure fit and can withstand heavy use and impacts.
