The SMITH Trace MIPS is built for versatile cycling, where the same helmet can be used on a road bike, gravel bike or for adventure riding. It is more aerodynamic and has a lower profile than a traditional trail helmet, but offers more technical protection than a standard entry-level road helmet.

The helmet's MIPS Brain Protection System is designed to reduce rotational forces caused by angled impacts. The full KOROYD structure adds impact protection with a lightweight, energy-absorbing and airy lattice material. The integrated skeletal structure acts as an internal support frame that increases the helmet's structural strength.

The Trace MIPS is also designed for use with eyewear. AirEvac ventilation directs airflow to reduce eyewear fogging, while the side channels provide a secure place to store glasses during breaks or climbs. This makes the helmet particularly practical for long rides, warm conditions and varied riding.
