Race Face Chester is a popular composite-bodied flat pedal for mountain biking. It is designed to provide secure grip, durable construction, and great ride feel for trail, enduro, all mountain, and eMTB use. The newer version of the Chester features two size options, a low 16 mm profile, and 11 pins per side.
Race Face Chester – grippy and durable flat pedal for active riding
The Race Face Chester is suitable for the rider who wants good grip, reliable feel, and durability from a flat pedal without the higher price tag of an aluminum pedal. The nylon composite body keeps the weight moderate, but the chromoly steel axle and serviceable internals make the package well-suited for very active off-road riding. Race Face lists the intended uses for the Chester as XC, trail, all mountain, gravity, and eMTB.
The pedal's low profile helps keep the feel stable, and the pins placed on the edges help keep the shoe in place in technical terrain, over roots, and in bike park riding. The two available sizes make the model better suited for different foot sizes than before. According to Race Face, the Small size is 105 x 100 mm and the Large is 115 x 110 mm.
