Description
Pivot Mach 4 SL Expert XT Di2 is a modern full-suspension carbon XC bike for riders who want a lightweight, competitive, and technically advanced XC platform combined with the precision of Shimano XT Di2 electronic shifting and the control of Fox Performance suspension. The new Mach 4 SL frame was developed for the demands of world cup XC and modern technical race courses, where efficient climbing, precise handling, and maintaining speed are crucial to performance. The Expert model offers the same top-tier frame, geometry, and suspension kinematics as the more expensive versions in the range, but with a highly balanced and competitive component package.
Pivot Mach 4 SL Expert – lightweight carbon full-suspension with electronic shifting
The Mach 4 SL Expert is built around Pivot's highest modulus carbon frame, designed to maximize the stiffness-to-weight ratio and convert every watt of pedaling into forward motion. Updated geometry and finely tuned DW-link suspension create a combination where the bike climbs extremely efficiently while maintaining stable and controlled handling as speed increases and the terrain becomes technical. This makes the Mach 4 SL an XC bike that performs in both races and fast trail riding where the terrain is rooty, rocky, and constantly changing.
The DW-link rear suspension is designed to provide efficient pedaling, consistent grip, and predictable control. On the Mach 4 SL, the rear travel is adjustable to 110 or 120 millimeters with a flip-chip solution, allowing the bike's character to be fine-tuned according to riding style and terrain. 110 mm emphasizes maximum pedaling efficiency and race speed, while 120 mm adds stability, grip, and control in technical XC conditions. At the front, the Fox Performance 34SL 120 mm fork provides a lightweight construction, precise handling, and controlled suspension performance that supports the bike's modern XC character.
The Mach 4 SL Expert uses Shimano XT Di2 electronic shifting, which brings extremely fast, precise, and load-independent shifting to XC riding. The 12-speed 10–51-range offers a wide operating range for steep climbs and fast riding on flat and descents. Electronic shifting maintains its precision even during hard pedaling and in varied terrain, which is particularly useful in race situations and on technical trails. Shimano XT drivetrain is also known for its durability, making this model extremely reliable for long-term XC use.
For braking, the Mach 4 SL Expert utilizes Shimano XT brakes, which provide a lightweight, balanced, and highly modulated braking feel for XC riding. The 180 mm front rotor and 160 mm rear rotor provide sufficient stopping power on steep descents and technical corners while maintaining a lightweight overall package. This brake package supports the bike's efficient XC character, where control and precision are more important than just maximum braking force.
In the cockpit, the Mach 4 SL Expert uses a Phoenix Team Flat carbon handlebar with a width of 760 mm and Phoenix Team XC/Trail stem with a length of 60 mm. The carbon handlebar brings lightness and precise handling feel, and the 760 mm width offers a good balance between XC efficiency and technical control. Phoenix Factory Lock-On grips complete the secure grip. On the saddle side, the JD/Pivot dropper post adds control on descents and technical sections, while the Phoenix WTB Pro Volt saddle offers a lightweight and ergonomic XC seating solution.
As wheels, the Mach 4 SL Expert uses a DT Swiss X1900 29” set, which offers a good combination of durability, stiffness, and reasonable weight for active XC use. The tire setup with Maxxis Rekon in the front and Rekon Race in the rear at 2.4” width and EXO construction combines rolling efficiency, grip, and puncture protection in modern XC terrain. This tire package supports the bike's character: fast but controllable, efficient but ready for technical terrain.
The Mach 4 SL Expert XT Di2 offers the same top-tier frame, geometry, and suspension platform as the most expensive versions in the range, but combined with an extremely balanced and competitive component package. It is a modern full-suspension carbon XC bike for riders who want a lightweight, fast, and technically advanced bike for races, fast trail riding, and long XC rides.

Faster where it matters
The Mach 4 SL is XC at its purest – designed for maximum efficiency, honed for precision, and built to master modern race courses. It was born from the demands of world cup XC and long-distance endurance races, combining an extremely lightweight construction with uncompromising stiffness, control, and efficiency.
This is Pivot's sharpest tool for riders who live on the edge – designed to crush climbs and meet the demands of the real trails where races are truly won.

The Mach 4 SL Legacy
The Mach 4 SL continues the legacy of Pivot's first bike, the Mach 4 Alloy, introduced in 2007.
The original model laid the foundation for Pivot's focus on efficiency, suspension performance, and competitive rideability. Since its debut in 2019, the Mach 4 SL has defined the modern XC bike: lightweight, high-performance, and uncompromisingly fast. Each generation has refined this vision to meet the demands of today's courses, staying true to the speed and precision where it all began.

Pivot's proprietary Ride Tuning design philosophy
At Pivot, every frame size is designed separately with precise stiffness-to-weight analysis and custom carbon layups.
This process ensures that the smallest frame size offers the same balance and performance as the XL – without compromise. By individually tuning stiffness and compliance for each size, every rider gets the same confident handling, efficiency, and responsiveness regardless of size. This approach is exactly what makes the Mach 4 SL feel so refined to ride.
The Mach 4 SL also has the highest stiffness-to-weight ratio in the Pivot range, because every gram and every watt transferred forward matters.

Why dw-link?
dw-link is more than a suspension solution – it is the foundation of every Pivot bike.
By combining precise anti-squat geometry with exceptional sensitivity, it produces a ride feel that pedals efficiently while remaining stable and predictable. On the Mach 4 SL, this balance means that every watt of pedaling is converted directly into forward motion, and grip is maintained over roots, rocks, and technical climbs. The result is efficient climbing, composed cornering, and suspension performance that supports the rider through every section of the trail.
