Maxxis Rekon Race 29x2.4 WT MaxxSpeed EXO TR 120TPI Folding XC Tire
The Maxxis Rekon Race 29x2.4 WT is a semi-slick tire designed for fast XC riding, performing particularly well on dry, hard surfaces. The low-profile center tread keeps rolling resistance low and helps the tire roll efficiently in races, training, and fast marathon riding. At the same time, the side knobs provide sufficient grip in corners and for maintaining the racing line as speeds increase on more technical sections.
This 29x2.40 WT version is designed for modern XC bikes and wider rims. The MaxxSpeed compound emphasizes rolling efficiency and grip suitable for racing, the 120 TPI construction provides lightness and sensitive handling, and the EXO sidewall protection increases durability in light trail and XC use. The Tubeless Ready construction allows for lower pressures, better grip, and a reduced risk of tire failure when properly installed.
Maxxis Rekon Race 29x2.40 WT – a fast tubeless ready XC tire for dry trails
The Maxxis Rekon Race is Maxxis's lowest-profile tread in the XC range, and it is designed specifically for situations where speed needs to be maximized on hard, dry surfaces. It is well suited as a rear tire for race-oriented XC use, short track, and fast summer trails, but also works as a front tire for lighter riding for riders who value rolling efficiency over aggressive knobby tread. Maxxis recommends the Rekon Race for dry XC trails and short track riding.
This size version combines a Wide Trail construction, a 120 TPI casing, and the MaxxSpeed compound. According to Maxxis, the WT construction is optimized for XC tires on a 30 mm internal-width rim, and it also works on narrower rims with an internal width of approximately 25–30 mm. The EXO protection provides additional cut resistance to the sidewalls without adding significant weight, making the overall package well suited for riders who want a light yet sensible race and general XC tire.
