Fast and grippy 29” trail and XC tire for technical terrain
The Maxxis Rekon 29x2.4WT 3C MaxxTerra EXO+ TR is a folding tubeless-ready tire designed for fast trail, XC, and all-terrain riding. The Rekon rolls faster than aggressive enduro tires while still providing good grip on roots, rock gardens, dry trails, and looser surfaces. It is well-suited for riders who want an efficient, versatile, and faster-rolling mountain bike tire for a modern 29” mountain bike.
The 2.4” WT profile is designed for wider rims, allowing the tire shape and knob positioning to perform better on modern trail and down-country bikes. The 3C MaxxTerra rubber compound offers a good balance between grip, rolling efficiency, and durability, while the EXO+ protection adds confidence when facing rocks, roots, and harder impacts. In the Maxxis product chart, this 29x2.40 EXO+ TR version features a 120 TPI casing, an ETRTO dimension of 61-622, and a weight of approximately 934 g.
Maxxis Rekon – a light but reliable mountain bike tire for trail riding
The Maxxis Rekon is a good choice when you want fast progression from your bike without sacrificing grip in more technical terrain. The center tread supports rolling speed and braking grip, while the L-shaped side knobs provide support for corners and off-camber sections. The Rekon works well as both a front and rear tire, but it is an especially excellent all-around tire for fast trail riding, down-country bikes, dry terrain, and XC-oriented riding.
The EXO+ construction makes this version a stronger alternative to the standard EXO tire. According to Maxxis, EXO+ uses a 60 TPI casing, EXO sidewall protection, and a butyl insert around the bead to help protect against pinch flats and rim strikes. The Tubeless Ready construction allows for a tubeless setup with compatible rims, enabling tire pressure adjustments for improved grip, comfort, and rolling speed.
