The Minion DHR II is one of Maxxis' best-known and most widely used tires, and for good reason. Its tread pattern is developed to provide maximum braking traction, stability in corners, and confident control on slick and varied surfaces. The paddle-like knobs in the center section dig into the terrain during braking and prevent the rear from breaking loose, even on steep descents. The ramped front edges of the knobs improve acceleration traction and make the tire roll faster on dry and hard-packed trails.

The side knobs are derived from the legendary Minion DHF model, but in the DHR II version, they are wider to provide extra support when leaning into turns. This makes the tire stable and predictable even in aggressive cornering, amidst wet roots and rock gardens, and during quick direction changes. The tire's geometry supports both trail and enduro riding styles, and it works excellently when paired with a DHF front tire.

The 3C MaxxTerra rubber compound offers a softer and grippier ride feel than hard basic compounds, while maintaining significantly better rolling efficiency and longer service life than MaxxGrip. As a compound, MaxxTerra is an excellent compromise for all types of cyclists who need grip on roots, wet forest terrain, and rocks, but do not want to sacrifice forward momentum on flat sections.

The EXO sidewall protection makes the tire more durable while maintaining suppleness for light trail and enduro riding. The 120 TPI casing increases the tire's ability to conform to uneven surfaces, improves grip at low pressures, and makes the tire responsive without extra weight.

The Tubeless Ready (TR) construction makes installation easy, and the Wide Trail (WT) profile is optimized for a 35 mm internal rim width, ensuring the tire shape and knob angles work exactly as designed.
