Description
A versatile 29” trail tire for when you need rolling efficiency and reliable grip
The Maxxis Forekaster GEN2 29×2.6" EXO TR is a foldable, tubeless-ready tire designed for fast-paced trail, down country, and XC-oriented mountain biking. In the Maxxis lineup, the redesigned Forekaster sits between lightweight XC tires and more aggressive trail/enduro tires: it rolls faster than Minion or Dissector-style tires, yet offers more cornering, climbing, and braking grip than faster tires like the Aspen or Rekon.
The 2.6” width provides extra air volume, comfort, and control for roots, rock gardens, and varied trails. EXO sidewall protection improves the tire's cut and abrasion resistance without the weight of heavier casing structures, and the TR design allows for tubeless installation with sealant on compatible rims. According to the Maxxis product chart, this version features a Dual Compound rubber blend, a 60 TPI casing, a foldable bead, and an EXO/TR construction.
Maxxis Forekaster GEN2 – a wider 2.6” tire for technical trail riding
The Forekaster GEN2 is a great choice for a rider who wants a tire that works in a wide range of conditions: dry forest trails, damp roots, loose gravel, softer pine needle paths, and changing spring or autumn weather. The more open tread pattern offers better shedding and grip than denser XC patterns, while the tire still maintains a fast and light ride feel compared to significantly heavier enduro tires.
The 29×2.6” size is particularly well-suited for modern trail and down country bikes, where extra comfort and confidence are desired without an overly heavy tire. The tire can be used as either a front or rear tire. As a front tire, it provides reliable steering grip, and as a rear tire, it offers a good balance of rolling efficiency, braking traction, and climbing grip. The EXO/TR Dual version is a sensible choice for general trail riding, long rides, and technical terrain when the protection of a full-blooded enduro tire is not required.
