The Cannondale Topstone Carbon 1 AXS is built around a lightweight carbon frame. The frame uses Cannondale's KingPin system, in which an axle structure passing through the seat tube allows controlled vertical compliance in the rear triangle and seatpost. This design provides comfort and grip without the weight or maintenance requirements of a traditional rear shock absorber. This makes the bike particularly effective on long gravel sections, rooty trails, and uneven forest roads.

The frame features a Proportional Response design tuned for each size, meaning the carbon layup, geometry, and ride feel are designed to work as balanced as possible for riders of different sizes. Internal cable routing and the Cannondale C1 Conceal stem finish the clean look, while the BSA 68 mm threaded bottom bracket makes maintenance more practical. The frame is also UDH-compatible, designed for flat-mount disc brakes, and equipped with a 12x142 mm thru-axle.

The drivetrain is based on the SRAM Rival AXS XPLR package.
