The 40 mm internal width is specifically designed for 2.8–3.0” tires, offering maximum support, traction, and stability for demanding trail riding. The offset design improves wheel durability and balances spoke tension, making the rim an excellent choice for trail, enduro, and e-MTB use.

Race Face AR40 Offset – maximum support for plus-size tires

The AR40 is part of Race Face's trusted AR series, which focuses on durability, ease of use, and modern tire compatibility. The 40 mm internal width gives wide plus-size tires a properly shaped profile, which improves lateral support, reduces tire squirm in corners, and allows for lower tire pressures without an unstable ride feel.

The offset design shifts the spoke holes slightly from the centerline, which balances spoke length differences and load distribution. This improves the wheel's lateral stiffness and longevity, especially in rear wheels and for heavy-duty riding. The result is a more durable wheel capable of handling higher loads that stays true even under heavy use.

The AR40 is manufactured from durable aluminum, and its 20 mm profile height provides a good balance between shock absorption and structural support. The wide external width and robust construction make this rim a reliable choice for rocky terrain, roots, and technical trails where tire support and rim strength are critical.

The 32-hole spoke count makes the AR40 an excellent base for a durable wheel that is also well-suited for electric mountain bikes and heavier riders. The rim works perfectly in trail and enduro use, but is at its best with plus-size tires where the goal is to maximize traction, comfort, and control.

The Race Face AR40 Offset 27.5" is the right choice for riders who want a worry-free, strong, and modern rim for wide tires without compromising on durability.

Features

40 mm internal width for 2.8–3.0” plus-size tires
Stable and sturdy tire profile at low pressures
Offset design improves wheel durability and balance
Durable aluminum construction for demanding mountain biking
32H design for a long-lasting and serviceable wheel
Suitable for trail, enduro, and e-MTB use

Technical specifications

Product model: Race Face AR40 Offset
Size: 27.5"
Internal width: 40 mm
External width: 44 mm
Profile height: 20 mm
Material: Aluminum
Spoke holes: 32 H
Design: Offset
Weight: approx. 595 g
Use: Trail, Enduro, Plus-size tires, e-MTB

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0987/6068/7940/files/race-face-ar40-offset-27-5-rim-32h_orig.jpg?v=1791572197
